After Hours Care

When Greenwood Health is not open (nights, weekends and Statutory Holidays) a Motueka GP is always available to provide After Hours care for our enrolled patients and vistors. On two out of every three days, this After Hours care is provided by a GP from Greenwood Health.

If you phone Practices in Motueka after hours your call will be answered by a trained Nurse. S/he will listen to you, offer professional advice, and can make you an appointment with the On Call GP if this is appropriate.

Afer Hours care for children under 13 years is free, but you do need to phone the clinic to let the Nurse find the After Hours GP for you, and make your appointment. For people 13 years or older, there are additional charges on top of the standard weekday fees.

People not enrolled with a Motueka general practice may be asked to see their own doctor if they are enrolled with a nearby practice and if their problem is not especially urgent. We encourage people who live locally to enrol with a doctor locally.

Most doctors do not stay at their health centres after hours so please always ring first rather than going directly to the health centre.

If you require urgent help then dial 111 and ask for the ambulance.  Motueka has a full time professional ambulance service. The doctor on duty may also attend depending on their availability.
