I have recently moved to Motueka from the Netherlands, where I graduated as a doctor at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam in 2008. After having worked in Emergency Medicine and Youth Healthcare for several years, I went on to specialise as a GP in Amsterdam and completed my training end of 2015.
I love the variety, versatality and depth of working as a GP. I find it very rewarding to ( hopefully) be able to help some of my fellow humans by good listening, showing a genuine interest and applying a mixture of practical skills and scientific knowledge. I enjoy all aspects of general practice (apart from too much paperwork and bureacracy) and have a special affinity with palliative care.
As we’d been dreaming of living in this beautiful part of the world, my family and I were more than happy that I got the opportunity to work in the amazing Tasman region.
We, including my 2 children, are delighted by all the natural beauty and outdoor opportunities this region has to offer and like the friendly atmosphere here.
I’ve always liked tramping and swimming but I’ve recently embraced mountainbiking and bird watching as new hobbies. Also, I have an interest in drama/theatre and movies.
