Trained at Pretoria University in South Africa, I qualified as a doctor in 1996. I worked in rural South Africa until we moved to Motueka in 2004. I attained my Fellowship with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners in 2013. I am interested in all aspects of general practice, but I especially enjoy skin cancer medicine and women’s health. My husband, Willem, is a dentist and works in the dental wing of Greenwood Health. We have three children. I recharge by reading good books, enjoying long walks on the beach, having friends around for a meal and watching a good movie. In the community I am actively involved at Alive Church of Christ.

My motto when practising medicine is the following: “The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease” – William Osler
