Graduating in 1993 in Auckland, I initially worked in secondary care medical, surgical, gynae and obstetrics, NICU and ED before settling in a medical/haematology ward. I moved to haematology as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and started the thrombosis service, managing patients with blood clots.
From here I was involved in the writing of a regional DVT clinical pathway and discovered a passion for clinical pathways, moving into HealthPathways as the Development Lead for the next five years. 380 pathways were developed over this time and then implemented across primary and urgent care in my role as the Nurse Advisor for the regional Primary Options for Acute care programme (POAC).
In 2020 I became the Clinical & Quality Nurse Manager for the regional POAC service. This included providing clinical advice for clinicians to potentially avoid same day hospital admissions across the Auckland region utilising the best practice evidenced based content from HealthPathways.
I’m very excited to join the wonderful team at Greenwood Health and I look forward to serving the Motueka community and surrounding regions.
I promote patient empowerment by the sharing of Nursing knowledge to ensure patients are enabled to take ownership of their own health needs. I am passionate about equity of access to healthcare for all patients and ensuring patients and their Whanau are at the centre of everything we do.
